The Westchester County Department of Corrections in Valhalla, New York, was hampered with an access control system that complicated security efforts and forced officials to use only cards and equipment from one particular vendor.

This case study looks at how the department upgraded to a new security solution that provided better functionality, improved returns on investment, and provided dependable functionality. By implementing a solution with C·CURE 800 and Intellex, Westchester was able to integrate four different building complexes. Access control, CCTV cameras integrated with an intercom system, multiple levels of security control, and programmable door locks have provided efficiency and cost-saving measures for the department. By all measures, the security system has provided a measure of stability and functionality previously unseen.
